Nancy Jane Vandenbrooks age 75 of Harrison Passed away November 15, 2017 at her longtime family home. Nancy was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 14, 1942 to Clayton Arthur Dennis, Sr. and Virginia Bean Dennis. She lived in Michigan her entire life, growing up in the Macomb County area and attending Mt. Clemens High School. Nancy married Robert Vandenbrooks, Sr. in 1959, and the couple went on to have one child. Nancy lived permanently in Harrison since 1999.
Nancy loved living in Michigan and enjoyed the outdoor seasons. She was known for her incredible green thumb and baked goods so amazing that they made every holiday delicious and complete. Nancy also loved to sew, paint, play cards and marbles, cook, yard sale, and camp – especially in the Upper Peninsula. She was a woman who loved her family with a ferocity that is rare in this world, which is why spending time with them was her most favorite activity of all. Nancy took this passion for her family and carried it into a nursing career, where she continued to help and take care of others. She was the perfect combination of beauty, brash, brilliant, and big-hearted.
Nancy is survived by her son, Robert VanDenbrook, Jr. and his wife Lisa; two granddaughters, Brandy VanDenbrook and Rachel Dresser (married to William Dresser), and their mother Judy VanDenbrook; four siblings, Greg Dennis, Geraldine Lemiux, Sandy Horan, and Clayton “Cap” Dennis Jr.; her Aunt, Doreen Gralewski; her longtime best friend, Dolores Rzadkowlski; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two siblings, Rodney Dennis and Jackie Ratiu.
