Obituary for Wilma Irene Kohler (Russell)

Wilma Irene Kohler age 83 of Farwell, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at McLaren-Flint. Wilma was born September 26, 1938 in Weidman, Michigan the daughter of Ernest Sterling Russell and Dora Louise (Lee) Russell. Wilma attended and graduated from Beal City High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Mr. Jerry Dean Kohler on September 14, 1968 in Lake Station, Michigan. Mr. Kohler preceded Wilma in death on August 25, 2020 after fifty-one years of marriage.
Mrs. Kohler had resided in Farwell since 2000, moving from Harrison. She spent many years in the food service business, working over twenty years at the Nest of Farwell as a cook and seven years at Maxfield’s Restaurant in Blanchard, Michigan also as a cook. Wilma loved fishing, baking special treats for her family and friends, crocheting, camping with family, wintering in Texas and watching old western movies.
Surviving Mrs. Kohler are her six children: William Kohler and wife Deborah of Aransas Pass, Texas, Chari Patterson and husband Guy of Lennon, Michigan, Timothy Kohler and wife Denise of Vestaburg, Michigan, Janice Schafer and husband Mike of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Carrie Dixon and husband Dennis of Gladwin, Michigan and Lisa Whitney and husband David of Shepherd, Michigan, daughter-in-law, Charmain Kohler of Midland, Michigan, eighteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one brother, Lee Anderson and wife Bonnie of Gladstone, Michigan, sister-in-law, Nancy Russell of Webb City, Missouri, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mrs. Kohler also was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Melvin Kohler, two sisters: Myrtle and Marie and two brothers: Ernest Russell and Charles Russell.
Graveside services and inurnment for Mrs. Kohler will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from Surrey Township Cemetery, Farwell.
