Obituary for William Eugene "Bill" Morey

William “Bill” Eugene Morey age 91 of Harrison passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. William was born October 1, 1930 in Flint, Michigan the son of Lawrence and Vernice (Jones) Morey. Mr. Morey honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and Army during the Korean Conflict. Soon after completing his military service, Bill was united in marriage to Ms. Norma Jeanne’ Carskie on June 5, 1954 at St. Francis Catholic Priest House, Flint. Mr. Morey retired from Buick Motors after thirty years of dedicated service.
William had resided in Harrison since 1983, moving from Mayville, Michigan. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 404 of Harrison and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2235 of Harrison. Bill enjoyed bird hunting, deer hunting, bow hunting, fishing, ice fishing, gardening, cooking, watching Detroit Tigers baseball and was an avid reader of Western books and watching Western movies. He was passionate about spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving Mr. Morey is his loving wife and best friend of sixty-seven years, Mrs. Norma Jeanne’ Morey of Harrison, his five children; Thomas Morey and wife Karen of Davison, Michigan, Linda Kennard of Alma, Michigan, Bill Morey and wife Melanie of Lake City, Michigan, David Morey of South Carolina and Douglas Morey and wife Patricia of Glendale, Arizona, twenty grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two sisters; Vernice “Bunny” Barks of Clio, Michigan and Judy Morse of Frankenmuth, Michigan, one brother-in-law, Warren Tucker and wife Jean of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mr. Morey was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Donna Tucker and Sherry Jackson, one brother, Lawrence Morey and one brother-in-law, Carl Morse.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Bill will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. from St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 310 S. Broad Street, Harrison, with Rev. Father J. Marcel Portelli officiating. Visitation will take place Monday, February 28, 2022 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, 165 W. Oak St., Harrison. Burial will be in St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Harrison.
