Obituary for Michael George Benjamin "Ziggy" Smith
Michael “Ziggy” George Benjamin Smith age 38 of Harrison passed away at his home on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Michael was born November 14, 1983, in Lansing, Michgan the son of Dianna Lynn Hanchett. Michael graduated from Harrison Community Schools in 2002. He continued his education for two years at Mid-Michigan Community College, Harrison.
Ziggy had resided in Harrison since 1989, moving from Lansing. Ziggy was an avid gun, knife, and sword collector. He enjoyed video gaming, computer gaming and was considered a “social butterfly” Michael dearly loved being with his family, friends, and cherished Amber’s children.
Surviving Mr. Smith is his mother and father, Dianna and Wil “Pops” Smith of Harrison, his six siblings; Bert Smith and wife Melissa of Florida, Genine Hayward and husband David of Port Huron, Michigan, Lisa Deam and husband Chano of Port Huron, Raymond Smalley and wife Stacy of Michigan, Tina Smalley of Michigan and Todd Smalley also of Michigan, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, he was loved and cherished by his girlfriend, Amber Johnson of Harrison and was a bonus dad to Amber’s children; Chase Usher, Roezalee Johnson, Genevieve Usher, Caleb Usher, Gwendalyn Johnson and Pamela “Munchkin” Johnson. Michael was preceded in death by his three brothers; Troy Benjamin, Larry Smalley and Tony Smith and his dear and close cousins: James Hanchett and Jesse Hanchett.
Life Celebration services honoring and celebrating Ziggy will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor Ray McClintic officiating. A time of sharing will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
