Obituary for David Michael Bohlinger

David Michael Bohlinger age 78 of Harrison passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 5, 2022. David was born June 27, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan the son of Harvey and June (Stevens) Bohlinger. David graduated from Denby High School, Detroit, Michigan in 1961. Mr. Bohlinger was united in marriage to Ms. Janice DeWaele on August 11, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan.
Mr. Bohlinger had resided in Harrison since 1995, moving from Utica, Michigan soon after his retirement from Consumers Energy after thirty years as Gas Distribution and Facilities Manager. He was past president of many homeowners’ groups as well as social clubs. David enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing baseball, coaching soccer, and traveling throughout the United States in his motorhome. He was a pilot and enjoyed working on and flying his airplanes. David was a fan of Red Wings Hockey and was a past member of the Red Wings Junior Hockey League. As a young man, David skated with Gordie Howe. He enjoyed boating and waterskiing with his family and friends. David considered himself a World War II fanatic and historian. Mr. Bohlinger fondly reminisced about summers he spent as a young boy with his grandparents at the family home at Hollywood Landing, Lake James, Angola, Indiana.
Mr. Bohlinger is survived by his wife and best friend of fifty-nine years, Mrs. Janice Bohlinger of Harrison, his three loving children; Kimberly Barg and husband Craig of Macomb, Michigan, Dawn Barbret and husband Dave of Chesterfield Township, Michigan and Brent Bohlinger and wife Linda of Sterling Heights, Michigan, eight grandchildren; Beth Barg, Shawn Barg and wife Mallori, Michael Barbret and wife Kat, John Barbret and wife Rachel, Carl Barbret and fiancé, Devan, Brendan Bohlinger and fiancé, Katy, Tyler Bohlinger and fiancé, Rachel and Natalie Bohlinger and boyfriend Romelle, four great-grandchildren; Makenzie, Kyle, Celeste and Cameron, sister, Barb Kubasinski and husband George of Sterling Heights, many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mr. Bohlinger was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services honoring Mr. Bohlinger will be held Friday, March 11, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., from Hillcrest Cemetery, Greenwood Township, Harrison with Rev. Father J. Marcel Portelli officiating. Visitation will take place Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home.
