Obituary for Alfred Ray Roach

Alfred Ray Roach, age 93, of Harrison passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, under the care of My Michigan Hospice.

Per Alfred’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service will take place at Pleasant Plains Cemetery at a later date.

Alfred was born on September 14, 1928, in Pontiac, son of Lyle and Ida (Burkee) Roach. He married the love of his life, Georgia Alice Nixon in 1950, in Cass City. Alfred worked for the Oakland County Road Commission in forestry, eventually becoming a truck driver, where he spent most of his 35-year career. After retiring, Alfred and Georgia moved to Harrison in 1985. Alfred loved being outdoors, especially on a snowmobile during the winter or a fishing boat during the summer. He was an avid fisher, often times fishing from sun up to sun down. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Alfred is survived by his sons, Robert “Bob” (Sheila) Roach of Waterford, David “Dave” Roach of Harrison, and Andrew “Andy” Roach of Harrison; 6 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Alfred was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Georgia Roach on December 24, 2021; son, Ronald Roach; granddaughter, Jonna Roach; twin sister, Alice McLaughlin; and brother, Russell Roach.
